IT Directors FAQ
Is SOLYS a scalable solution?
Definitely. SOLYS can be implemented for each retail account team, and can also be integrated with a consolidated database of retailers. We offer custom programming services that enable you to integrate with company-specific reporting systems and other customer-specific systems.
Is the SOLYS platform consistent with our existing systems?
SOLYS is completely compatible with a number of platforms, including Microsoft® Access, SQL Server and Oracle databases, and uses standard Microsoft® Office applications, like Excel, for output.
Is SOLYS a good strategic choice for going forward?
SOLYS is extremely flexible in how it can be implemented—in installation and in database. You have the choice of starting simply with installations on individual workstations, then moving up to local or remote server installation when you need to. And, you can start with a single retailer database or you can choose to work with integrated databases.
How much installation support will you need from my IT department?
The amount of support depends on the configuration you choose. Access has no start up requirements, but SQL Server installation requires IT to allocate server space and assist with initial installation. Our team is responsible for program de-bugging, fixes or customizations that you require.
What are the system's server space requirements?
SOLYS' server space requirements are dependent upon the depth of data—that is, the level of data you want to be able to view and analyze. The space requirements range from 1G of space for a chain level view, to 100+G for a collection of deeper views like store level and category level views, to name just a couple of options.
Will SOLYS cause a conflict on our workstations?
No, SOLYS will not cause a conflict because it uses the Microsoft® Office suite of applications. However, you may need to purchase the Access application if you don't have Microsoft® Office Professional. And because SOLYS doesn't require any change to the registry settings, IT does not need to be involved in installation.
What is the bandwidth requirement?
We recommend a T1 line for remote server installation of SOLYS.
